005 Patrick from IELTSTestOnline.com – Powerful learning for time poor students.

28 Apr

Meet Patrick, A Wrexham FC Football fan, and also owner of the effective online IELTS preparation site.

This podcast is ideal for students who are working full time, who don’t have the time to travel to an academy, but still need to study.

On the Podcast Patrick explains how you can make 3 hours of study more effective than 8 hours

How is this?

You start with an online practise test, identify your errors, then focus on these areas with a knowledgeable guide, remarkably simple.

The philosophy is focussing on what you need, instead of dedicating hours to general revision.

Patrick explains the concept of learner centred learning, – a highly effective method for ‘time poor’ students, this includes getting instant feedback from your work – not having to wait for the answers.

We talk about what the videos on the course cover: what the test actually wants you to do. For example we discus the two different methods of paragraphing, the real world and the IELTS world.

Then we look at real world reading versus IELTS style reading (3000 words in an hour???), and the skills needed to conquer it.

Why television is not the best medium, while repetition definitely is, learning to get the flow of the language.

Here are some of the questions I asked:

What course video should every student be watching?

What is your best advice for the speaking section?

If you want free expert advice, or are considering an IELTS course, don’t do anything without listening to this first.
