As you probably know I regularly talk with my students regarding their IELTS preparation, their essays, and especially their plans for after passing the exam.
A lot of you are aiming to live in Australia or the UK, or even start working there, possibly Canada too.
Seeking new opportunities, better horizons are characteristics of SUCCESSFUL people.
But success doesn’t just drop out of the sky, it takes determination, dedication, motivation, I’m talking to you of my many inspirations.
You see, with so much determination and passion to pass the exam, it’s easy to buy test after test after test… Sound familiar???
This is so sad.
Is IELTS Stopping you?
This is what happened to Arturo, a Spaniard*1 from Madrid, living in London and just like you, he wanted to change his lot!*2.
He wants to go to Australia for better prospects (and weather!).
But the IELTS exam was stopping him!
It stopped him once, then again, then again, and again, for a total of three times!
If we channel our determination for passing the exam into taking test after test after test….. YOU ONLY MAKE IELTS IDP and B.Council RICHER!
Slow down, spend your money on IELTS Preparation, not IELTS TESTS!
Calm down, take a step back and review the situation.
Our friend Arturo took his first test after a little preparation and got 6.5 in the writing and 6.5 in the listening (he has a hearing deficiency and the test centre didn’t have headphones for the listening).
So that was test #1 down the drain, along with £160 ($292 AUD!).
So what did Arturo do afterwards?
He did exactly the same as many of you have done.
He took another test! Another £160 ($292 AUD!).
Along the way he decided to get an IELTS tutor, for private tuition at £60 $109 AUD / per hour!
This isn’t a bad idea, but it is definitely expensive, plus I think there is a conflict of interest. *4
Also, just think about all the messing around, the location, the commute, the arranging, then even the environment might not be conducive…
After four hours (£240 $438 AUD spent!) and not much progress he ditched this idea.
He bought books with practice tests to prepare for the listening and reading. This was a smart move because the real success comes from doing…
PRACTICE TEST AFTER PRACTICE TEST AFTER PRACTICE TEST
Finally he finds my course (£90 $127*4), and starts his journey to IELTS success.
This was EXACTLY what he needed, you see Arturo is probably very similar to you:
So the course was an ideal opportunity because all this MOTIVATION was directed to writing essays, improving skills via fast IELTS expert feedback…. NOT PAYING for more exams.
Arturo decides to take the exam again.
Anyway, after writing the essays and making MASSIVE improvements, Arturo decides to take the exam again.
So he pays for TWO exams, one week after each other. Why?
Because, like you, he is unstoppable and determined to get the Band 7 he needed for Australia.
Remember, he got 6.5 in his first exam….. well this time it jumps to Band 7.5 in the writing! Yes he jumped 2 bands!
And then, a week later he takes exam #4, and gets an amazing Band 8 in the writing!
Soon he will be going to Australia! Happy Days!
Where do you want to go?
Now, perhaps you want to:
-go to Australia, Canada or even the UK
-stay in Australia, Canada or the UK
-study in one of these countries
Whatever your reason you need to consider WHERE you are going to channel your time, energy and resources…
Stop and think. Will you be taking IELTS again and again to solve your problem? Hopefully not!
You should allocate some time for seriousIELTS preparation.
Invest in yourself, don’t invest in IELTS IDP / British Council.
If you’re worried about the cost of a course, think about taking the test again again again…
How much will you spend on tests before investing in yourself?
During our interview Arturo says “the online course was a REVELATION!”.

An expression that means to change one’s situation, for the better.
Personally I think there is a conflict of interest with tutors, their goal is to get as many classes as possible from you, want incentive do they have for your IELTS success? Not much…..
$127 – This was the old price, in April I had to increase the price because I had too many students. New Price is $137, but will increase again very soon, because I still have too many students and the expert essay corrector keeps complaining of the amount of work she has!
