Meet Annika, she is from Germany but took IELTS while travelling in Japan because she plans to go to university in London.
She needed 6.5 but ended up with band score 8!
For the reading, speaking, and listening, immersing herself in an English speaking environment definitely helped. She went to language exchanges, read English books, and has international friends.
For the writing section, she found it really challenging to transfer ideas from her head into an essay format.
Once she spent three hours writing an entire essay about reforestation.
Annika also struggled with the structure of the essay.
Eventually, she got in contact and got some feedback for her essays.
On exam day she was incredibly nervous but gave herself a small pep talk and beat her nerves to have a great exam. Here is a great way to boost your confidence for the IELTS speaking.
