IELTS Topic: Sport- Anecdote
He was just kicking and kicking him, the football had disappeared a long time ago and I was looking at the ref wondering why he didn’t do something!
This all happened when I played 5-a-side football in Manchester. Madness.
Eventually, the ref blew his whistle and the game stopped and a yellow card was shown! Just a yellow! No red! So the guy kicking could carry on playing!
At the end of the podcast, I’ll share why the so-called ref allowed such violence.
I just wanted to share with you, how it is handy to have anecdotes, rich anecdotes full of TSV.
In that anecdote we had:
- 5-a-side football
- ref blew his whistle
- yellow card

IELTS Topic: Sport- Sample Answers
How do you feel personally about this topic?
Personally I love sport, however recently I fell into a bit of a slump and haven’t worked out as much as I should have.
Are you a SPORTY PERSON or a COUCH POTATO?
There have been times in my life when I was an absolute sports fanatic, every single day, football, squash, boxing, running, I was just addicted.
At other times in my life, I was a real couch potato and did nothing.
If I look back I definitely enjoyed my sporty phase more, without a shadow of a doubt.
Are you a fanatic?
My brother-in-law always watches the Formula 1, and he knows I love it also, so if we have a family event on a Sunday afternoon, when there is a race, he uses me as an excuse to switch it on!!
